The Alaska Farmhouse

Located on 4-1/2 acres of exclusive property high above the city of Anchorage, this house was conceived as an Alaska farmhouse for clients originally from the Midwest. Situated on a rugged ocean-facing lot, the initial concept focused on maximizing privacy and views in the context of a traditional home appropriate to Alaska. The driveway winds through over 600 feet of mature spruce trees before the house becomes visible.

The home is designed around a main level that stretches across the width of an open meadow with full views of sunsets over the ocean. A narrow footprint brings light deep into the structure during the long winter days. Sun porches, reading nooks and a full library lend timelessness to more modern appointments.
